Govt restricts auditors, compliance costs may rise: Report

A proposed change in the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 would bar auditors and audit firms from providing non-audit services after their term. This could increase compliance costs for Indian companies by 20-30%, Financial Express reported. Auditors and industry body ASSOCHAM have opposed the move, warning it may reduce choices, raise costs, and impact service quality.
