The government on Monday restricted imports of unstudded platinum jewellery until April 30, 2026, according to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Earlier, such imports were under the 'free' category, but now importers will need authorisation to bring in such items. The decision was taken over concerns about some traders exploiting loopholes in the import policy.
