Govt revives free mobile phone scheme

The NDA government has revived the Rs 5,000 crore plan, conceived by the UPA govt in its final years, that involves giving free mobile phones to around 25 million households (around 100-125 million people). The scheme will be implemented by the state-owned BSNL. After Aadhaar, this is the second scheme of the previous government that the NDA is adopting.
