The Centre's effective capital expenditure rose 435.3% in 12 years to ₹90.87 lakh crore during 2014-2026, compared to ₹17.04 lakh crore during 2004-2014. The Centre's direct capital expenditure increased to ₹64.70 lakh crore during 2014-26 from ₹12.39 lakh crore in the previous decade. The government provided ₹26.17 lakh crore as grants to states for creating capital assets.
