The government is in favour of a self-regulatory model for content showcased on video streaming platforms, Amit Khare, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, said. The government has already had consultations with industry players in Chennai and Mumbai, Khare added. Earlier this year, nine video streaming sites in India voluntarily adopted a self-regulatory Code of Best Practices.
