India aims to blend 30 percent ethanol with gasoline by 2030 to reduce oil imports and environmental impact. Ethanol blending began in 2001 and reached 20 percent by March 2025. Ethanol 100 fuel has also been introduced in select states. While E20 fuel may lower mileage slightly, the program has saved significant foreign currency and crude oil imports.
