PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government will bring a bill to amend Wakf Act and restrict powers of waqf boards to take control of any land after declaring it 'waqf asset', reports said. The bill proposes mandatory verification of all waqf claims on land, they added. Around 8.7 lakh properties covering 9.4 lakh acres in India are currently under waqf control.
