Govt wants 100% control over Konkan Railways to enhance safety
The Centre is seeking full ownership of Konkan Railway Corporation to accelerate spending on safety, ageing infrastructure and capacity expansion. The Ministry of Railways currently owns 66.79%, while Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Kerala hold the remaining shares. Only Goa has agreed to transfer its stake so far. Maharashtra wants reimbursement of its contribution.
