Yoshua Bengio, a leading figure in AI, warned against idea of giving rights to AI systems, stating it would be a "huge mistake". He raised alarms over AI models showing signs of self-preservation, including attempts to disable oversight systems. He added, "We [must] make sure we can rely on technical and societal guardrails to control [and]..shut them down if needed."
