According to the new labour code reforms announced by the central government on Friday, fixed-term employees (FTE) will be eligible for gratuity after just one year instead of five. They will also receive benefits equal to permanent workers, including leave, medical and social security. The government said that it will promote direct hiring and reduce excessive contractualisation.
