Gravitational waves pioneer Ronald Drever dies aged 85

Scottish physicist Ronald Drever, credited with key early experimental work leading to the discovery of gravitational waves, recently passed away aged 85. Drever co-founded the LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory) project and worked with interferometers to tune their ability to function in the extreme sensitivity realm required to detect the tiny ripples in space and time.
