Around 99% of all goods that were earlier in the 12% GST slab have now been brought down to the 5% slab, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. "For certain essentials, tax has been reduced to zero...this will...benefit all 1.4 billion Indians," she added. She further said GST reforms aren't about rate cuts but about building trust and boosting demand.
