Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) under DRDO is developing a 110-130 kN thrust jet engine for AMCA fighter, with an estimated funding requirement of $4.5 billion. GTRE Director Dr SV Ramana Murty highlighted its importance, while India explores collaboration with Safran. A test facility in Bengaluru will support development, and the engine may be used in UCAVs and naval aircraft.
