Gucci criticised for racist sweater resembling blackface, apologises

Gucci on Thursday apologised and stopped selling its 'wool balaclava jumper' with immediate effect after the brand was widely accused of racism over the sweater resembling 'blackface'. 'Blackface' is a form of make-up used by non-black performers in the 19th century to represent a black person. "We consider diversity a fundamental value to be fully upheld and respected," Gucci said.
