Days after 20 people were killed in the Gambhira bridge collapse, the Gujarat government on Sunday approved the construction of a parallel two-lane high-level bridge and sanctioned ₹212 crore for the project. Several vehicles had plunged into the Mahisagar river after a portion of the 40-year-old bridge collapsed on July 9. The search for one missing person is still underway.
