Gujarat has proposed to relax its liquor law for tourists, approving an ordinance that allows them to obtain an online permit to consume liquor and purchase it by furnishing certain documents. However, the ordinance proposes 10 years' imprisonment for people involved in the sale and purchase of liquor and a ₹5 lakh fine. Governor OP Kohli must approve the ordinance.
