Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) of Gujarat, which witnessed a devastating earthquake on Jan 26, 2001, is working on an earthquake early warning and prediction system that can predict an earthquake as it takes place at its epicentre. The system "can give an alert around 30 seconds before the tremors reach other places," ISR Director General BK Rastogi said.
