Gukesh D officially replaces Anand as India's number one chess player after 37 years
India's 17-year-old Grandmaster Gukesh D on Friday officially replaced Viswanathan Anand as India's number one chess player. Anand had held the top rank for 37 consecutive years. Gukesh D is currently ranked eighth in the world with a rating of 2758, while Anand is ranked ninth with a rating of 2754.
