Gut fatty acids linked to inflammation in cystic fibrosis kids

A study of 64 children with cystic fibrosis found early-life changes in stool short-chain fatty acids linked to gut inflammation and digestive problems. Low butyrate levels were associated with higher inflammation markers. Poor fiber intake and unhealthy fats disrupted the microbiome, suggesting targeted nutrition may help stabilise gut health in cystic fibrosis patients.
