Hakeem Jeffries, whom Trump called thug & low IQ guy, likely to become next House Speaker

Hakeem Jeffries, 56, could become the first African-American Speaker of the US House of Representatives as Democrats registered victories in midterm polls. US President Donald Trump had called Jeffries a "thug" and a "low IQ guy". Jeffries, who represents New York's Eighth Congressional District, has been leading House Democrats as a minority leader since 2023.
