Half of 6-year-old US girl's brain 'switched off' to cure rare disease

Doctors 'switched off' a side of a six-year-old US girl's brain after she was diagnosed with Rasmussen's Encephalitis, a rare neurological disease that usually affects only one hemisphere (half) of brain. After surgery, the left side of her body is turned off. "Just disconnecting it is enough to stop the disease completely and essentially, potentially cure it," a doctor said.
