HDFC Bank attached a single photograph across three invoices totalling ₹9 crore under its plan to "camouflage" ₹45-crore payments to Maharashtra government's MSRDC, The Indian Express reported. An internal probe found that funds were diverted via the marketing department, and not the CSR team, as sponsorship for MSRDC's awareness campaign. The bank didn't even validate submitted vendor invoices.
