Fighting infection is all about resource allocation in flies, according to new research from Ashoka University. During infection, fruit flies must choose between reproduction, survival, and heat stress. They found that heat only makes flies more vulnerable to infection when they eat a regular diet. Whereas those on low or high-carb diets showed resilience.
