Hidden heat 'burp' building in Southern ocean could reignite global warming: Study

A team of climate scientists from Germany predicted that a massive hidden 'burp' of heat from Southern Ocean after global emissions eventually fall. Their findings, published in AGU Advances, suggest oceanic heat release could trigger a renewed warming phase lasting over a hundred years. Notably, Southern Ocean has absorbed carbon dioxide and heat from human activities for over a century.
