Earth Sciences Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched a high-resolution Bharat Forecast System (BFS) for operational forecasts up to the panchayat level on Monday. The system is expected to address extreme rainfall events, among other things. Developed by five female scientists, the BFS will operate at 6-kilometre resolution, unlike previous 12-km Global Forecast System (GFS) used in country so far.
