Himachal Pradesh has approved 10% reservation in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections in the general category, becoming the fourth state to do so. Gujarat, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh are the three other states to implement the reservation. The amendment was approved by the Parliament on January 9 and by President Ram Nath Kovind on January 12.
