After IndiGo signed a deal to buy 500 aircraft from Airbus, the airline's CEO Pieter Elbers said it is a historic moment for Indian aviation. This is the largest deal in aviation history by number of aircraft. "We are securing our future," Elbers stated. IndiGo, which is India's largest airline, operates more than 300 aircraft currently.
