Hitler was nominated for Nobel Peace Prize before World War II

Adolf Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939, just three months before he led Germany to invade Poland and start World War II. The nominator, a Member of the Swedish Parliament, later withdrew the submission saying he never intended it to be taken seriously. Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945, in his Berlin bunker.
