Hotels across India are reporting a surge in bookings and room tariffs ahead of the upcoming Independence Day long weekend, CNBCTV18 reported. KB Kachru, President of the Hotel Association of India, said hotels are witnessing up to a 40% increase in bookings compared to the previous year. Average daily room rates are expected to be 10–15% higher year-on-year, he added.
