How a weak monsoon could affect India's farms, water and power

A prolonged weak monsoon could disrupt kharif sowing, reduce crop yields, lower reservoir levels and affect hydropower generation across India. The Centre has identified 315 vulnerable districts, including 111 with poor irrigation coverage, and is considering additional rural employment support as weather experts forecast another month of below-normal rainfall across much of the country.
