Commenting on the drug menace, the Himachal Pradesh High Court asked how were rave parties being allowed to be organised at Kasol by the district administration and the police. The court further observed that despite the sanction of considerable funds for destroying illicit cannabis, there was an organised cultivation of cannabis in the higher reaches of Kullu.
