Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar questioned the Chief Justice of India (CJI)'s involvement in executive appointments in the country. Stating that it was time to revisit such norms, Dhankhar said, "How can in a country like ours or in any democracy, by statutory prescription, CJI participate in selection of CBI director?" "Can there be any legal rationale for it?" he added.
