How can overheating damage phones?

Heat presents a major risk for smartphones' batteries as prolonged exposure to high temperatures can wear them out prematurely, experts said. Adhesive used for phone screens can also start to loosen due to heat. Phone's CPU can be damaged if its maximum operating temperature is exceeded. In some cases, heat buildup can result in battery combustion or loss of functionality.
