One's credit score depends on their credit mix, which is a balance between secured credit, such as home/car loans, and unsecured credit, such as credit cards and personal loans. Closing a credit card, especially if it's the only unsecured credit card, may cause a slight dip in credit score. Older credit accounts boost scores by showing long-term credit responsibility.
