Ranya Rao and her associate Tarun Konduru established Dubai-based Veera Diamonds Trading LLC and bought gold from African dealers in Dubai's Deira Gold Souk through cash transactions. Konduru filed fraudulent customs declarations, while Rao took the gold at Dubai airport, concealed it on her person and smuggled it into India. She made about 15 times, carrying gold worth ₹102 crore.
