How did Cyclone 'Remal' get its name?

Cyclone 'Remal' is expected to make landfall and bring heavy rainfall to parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal on May 26. The cyclonic storm has been named 'Remal' by Oman. It is pronounced Re-Mal and it means 'sand' in Arabic. The RSMC New Delhi Tropical Cyclone Center is responsible for naming tropical cyclones over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
