Israeli forces left the scene after killing a terrorist in Rafah without realising he was Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar. Upon returning the next day, they recognised the body's resemblance to Sinwar and reportedly removed his finger for identification. Since Sinwar developed brain tumour while he was jailed in Israel, the country had his medical records, which matched with the finger.
