How did selling tea help PM Modi learn Hindi at Vadnagar railway station?

During a podcast last year, PM Narendra Modi revealed how he learned Hindi while selling tea. He said that during his childhood, he interacted with buffalo traders from Uttar Pradesh who used to wait for goods trains at Vadnagar railway station and order tea. This gave him an opportunity to speak with them and learn Hindi.
