Sunday, 3 September, 2017 A 'meteor' is the flash of light seen in the night sky when interplanetary debris called 'meteoroids' burn while entering into Earth's atmosphere. The meteoroids which survive and reach Earth's surface are called 'meteorites'. While this debris is less than a kilometre wide, 'asteroids' are larger rocks that come from the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
