How does a Dubai firm plan to bypass the entire 170-km Strait of Hormuz?

Dubai's DP World is planning to bypass the entire 170-km Strait of Hormuz by building a new port and terminal on the UAE's east coast, FT reported. The facilities will be built on the Musandam Peninsula, the dagger-shaped landmass that makes the Strait of Hormuz narrow. The new port will allow containers to enter/leave the UAE without using the strait.
