India tested a new emergency alert system today that can send SMS-like messages to all mobile phones within a specific geographic area, even without an active SIM card. The system uses Cell Broadcast (CB) technology, which transmits alerts directly over cellular networks to compatible devices simultaneously. Unlike traditional SMS, these alerts don't require phone number or network subscription.
