How does skipping breakfast affect mental health?

Skipping breakfast is linked to higher odds of depression, stress and psychological distress in all age groups, and anxiety in adolescents, as per a 2022 study published in the journal Nutritional Neuroscience. Not having breakfast can affect blood sugar levels, which directly affect 'feel-good' hormones like serotonin and dopamine, neurologist Dr Praveen Gupta told Business Standard.
