The body, when under stress, releases hormones like adrenaline and cortisol which increase blood sugar levels by pushing the liver to release more glucose into the bloodstream. Chronic stress can contribute to insulin resistance, where the body's cells don't respond effectively to insulin and it plays a role in the development and progression of type 2 diabetes.
