How does wife’s trading losses affect husband’s capital gains tax?

A husband cannot set off his wife's trading loss against his own capital gains, as the loss belongs to the taxpayer who incurred it. Clubbing provisions may apply when assets are gifted to a spouse, but not when money is given as an interest-free loan. Allowing the husband to use the loss could reduce the tax payable on his gains.
