How has UPI grown over the last 10 years?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which completed 10 years, has recorded a 13,574-fold rise in annual transaction volume. The number of transactions rose from 1.78 crore in 2016-2017 to 24,162 crore in 2025-26. The annual transaction value rose 4,486-fold from ₹0.07 lakh crore to ₹314 lakh crore. Number of participating banks rose from 21 to 741 as of July 2026.
