Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their first-ever match in the first season of IPL in 2008. They played the first-ever match of the tournament against RCB. The franchise won their opening matches in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024. They lost their opening games in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2020, 2023 and 2025.
