How is a half male, half female bird born?

A rare half male and half female bird, which was recently spotted in Colombia, is born when a female egg cell develops with two nuclei—one with a Z chromosome and one with a W chromosome—and it is double fertilised by two sperm with Z chromosomes. In bilateral gynandromorphs, one side of body has male characteristics and the other side female.
