How is poor sleep worse than alcohol?

Dr Prashant Katakol, a neurosurgeon, said alcohol may numb one temporarily, but poor sleep has lasting negative effect on brain and body. He added poor sleep can cause lack of focus, poor memory and mood swings. He advised people to stick to consistent sleep schedule, aim for 7–8 hours of sleep every night and ideally sleep between 9 pm-4 am.
