How is rust costing Indians ₹87,000 crore each year?

Indian car owners are losing ₹87,098 crore annually to corrosion by rust, Nomura Research's report found. Rust is shortening vehicle life, increasing maintenance costs and reducing resale values. The report estimates that corrosion accounts for 3% of the vehicle sector's GDP, making it one of India's highest avoidable industrial costs. Better corrosion prevention can save up to ₹30,484 crore/year.
