Three midnight sessions of the Parliament have been conducted since India's Independence, with the first such session marking the country's independence from the British. The two other sessions were held to commemorate the silver jubilee of India's Independence in 1972 and to celebrate 50 years of freedom in 1997. The Centre will hold a special midnight meeting on GST tonight.
